Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ
OUR WORK

I'm delighted to share all the hard work completed by the first and fifth year art students of Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ. Being a past pupil of the school myself, it was a wonderful experience to return to my alma mater to complete my eight week school placement. The art department in the Coláiste started me on my own artistic journey and I thoroughly enjoyed working with these groups of enthusiastic and talented students on their own journeys.

FIFTH YEARS

2022

The fifth year art students created these headpieces for a "Weareble Art" project around the theme of "Flow". Inspired by the "Junk Kouture" project, students had to create a headpiece incorporating recycled materials.

FIRST YEARS (GROUP 1.2)

2022

This project focused on creating portraits through dry point etching. These students had never printed before and learned new skills in drawing, etching, inking and printing.

Dry-point etching requires transferring a drawing to an etching plate by etching the lines into the surface of the plate. The plate is then inked and wiped down gently. The ink remains in the grooves of the etching and will transfer onto the paper when put through a printing press.
